What is Islah-e-Batin

Islah literally translated in English means purification. As in any language, word for word translation cannot justify the essence of the meaning between languages. Islah also denotes the meaning of repair or fix. A more detailed analysis also reveals the meaning of reform. So in essence Islah means to purify by fixing or reforming.

Batin means "the concealed" as in "the hidden". Batin refers to the Human inner being. Referring specifically to the matters of the soul and heart. The opposite of Batin is "Zahir" which means anything visible. It is considered that most Islamic rituals have both Zahiri and Batini dimensions.

Batini aspects of human life include the feelings of love, fear, jealousy, hatred, lust and happieness.

Love for Allah (SWT) and for his beloved Prophet (PBUH) are batini as it is not possible to validate or quantify its values in Zahiri values.
